  2. Pick out the stuff you need, or book it for up to a week

In Haaga

  1. The space is open by request only.
  2. Available time slots are only Thursdays from 14:00 to 17:00. No exceptions can be made.
  3. The list of materials available in Haaga storage can be found here: Haaga storage list.
  4. Reserve a time slot and your items via the online form: Haaga reservations. The item reservation field will appear on the confirmation page.
  5. Requests must be submitted by Tuesday at 17:00 for the same week.
  6. Your request will be considered valid only after confirmation from our team.
  7. If your desired time slot is already taken, we may still accommodate a visit at that time if we determine that it does not disrupt existing bookings. In this case, email us: haaga.reservations@gmail.com.
  8. It is possible to visit the storage to view the materials, but the same rules apply.
  9. The cancellation deadline for visits is Tuesday at 17:00 for the same week.

Important

Please remember that the items you reserved might be heavy and/or buried or located far away, requiring digging or moving materials. Visitors are responsible for all physical labor associated with retrieving their items, including carrying, as we do not provide these services.
If you are arriving by car, you may temporarily stop in front of the entrance for loading. For longer parking, there is a parking lot on the opposite side of the road, free of charge for up to 4 hours. Make sure the size of your car is suitable for the items you reserved or you are considering to take.

This system has been planned to ensure the smooth functioning of our space while respecting the availability of our team. These guidelines assist us in maintaining clear communication and ensuring a hassle-free experience for all. Adherence to these guidelines is mandatory.

Principles of use

  1. Take only what you need.
  2. Take only as much as you need.
  3. Leave the materials, shelves and boxes in the same order and condition as you found them. Pay close attention to ensure there are no items that are loose or sticking out.
  4. Consider donating what you don’t need or returning used items back to SWAMP.
  5. Donate only what can be reused. When in doubt, don’t hesitate to ask for our advice.
  6. Need help with transportation for your donation? Let us know!
  7. If you’d like to share your findings online or mention us on Instagram, please use our hashtags: #swamp_helsinki or #swamp_swap and/or tag us @swamp_swap
  8. If you wish, you can mention us in the acknowledgements accompanying your artwork description.
  9. We strongly discourage the use of free materials received from SWAMP for commercial purposes. It includes trading, leasing, or other uses of our materials intended for profit. It does not apply to artworks created with our materials.

Important to know

  1. If you know what you need, feel free to inquire about its availability by sending us a message on Instagram or WhatsApp before visiting in person.
  2. We strive to provide accurate details and measurements for the items you’re interested in. However, to ensure the item meets your needs, please visit and verify it in person.
  3. An item can be reserved for one week. You can cancel your reservation any time before the end of the last day of your reservation. The reservation cannot be extended. If you reserve an item but don’t pick it up on time without cancellation, it will be considered a no-show, and the item will be freed and might be offered to someone else. Two no-shows will result in a 6-month reservation ban.
  4. An item in SWAMP Pasila is considered booked once a sticker with a name is attached to it. Please double-check stickers when booking in person.
  5. An item in SWAMP Haaga is considered booked once you receive a reservation confirmation email.
  6. We cannot assume responsibility for the safety of children, so please make sure to supervise them yourself.
  7. We have gloves available, as well as eye and ear protection to use at both storage sites. Small metal and wood hand saws are available for use in SWAMP Pasila. Please make sure to clean up any dust after use.
  8. You can borrow one of three carts from the staff at SWAMP Pasila.
  9. In SWAMP Pasila, temporary parking for loading and unloading is possible in front of both entrances.
  10. In SWAMP Haaga, you may temporarily stop in front of the entrance for loading. For longer parking, there is a parking lot on the opposite side of the road, free of charge for up to 4 hours.
  11. We are unable to assist with carrying, loading, or transporting materials from the storage.

Accessibility

Unfortunately, at the moment the space is not wheelchair accessible. We are working on enhancing our accessibility and will try to accommodate specific requests from artists during this process.

Safer space guidelines

These guidelines are designed to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and supported at SWAMP. This requires a collective effort, therefore both staff and visitors are expected to follow the guidelines.

SWAMP is a public space dedicated to providing art-related materials. Rooted in values of diversity and non-discrimination, SWAMP offers free materials to all artists, regardless of their background.

At SWAMP, everyone should be treated with equality and respect. We do not tolerate harassment, violence, or inappropriate behavior. This includes all forms of discrimination, such as racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, body shaming, and classism. Discrimination and/or humiliation based on religious or social backgrounds, derogatory language and offensive terminology are also unacceptable.
