We are thrilled to announce that SWAMP is opening to the public!
We welcome you to join us for the soft launch on October 10th (12:00-18:00) and 11th (11:00-17:00) at Pasilan Puistotie 10 B. Come celebrate the opening of Helsinki’s first art material bank and a new space for the arts.
Following the soft launch, SWAMP will be open as a walk-in space. You’re warmly invited to visit during the following hours:
Tuesdays: 12:00-18:00
Thursdays: 12:00-18:00
Fridays: 11:00-17:00
SWAMP: Art Material Swap and Waste Management Point is a material bank for second-hand art supplies and stuff. The project’s goal is to collect reusable items from individuals and organizations in one location and make them accessible to other art workers for free. By creating this space, our objective is to decrease the environmental impact of the Helsinki art industry, and to contribute to the financial sustainability of artists and art institutions.

What can you find at SWAMP? We’re excited to offer a variety of materials, including wood, metal, different types of paint, textiles, pedestals, and lighting. Furthermore, we offer some specific artist-supplied items like seaweed sheets, custom-made paper for cultivating mycelium, and such.
We are grateful for the generous donations from art institutions: Feminist Culture House, Kohta Taidehalli, PUBLICS, HAM, NO NIIN Magazine, Amos Rex, EMMA Museum, IHME, as well as numerous individual artists.
Want to make your visit even more special? Bring along any Finnish magazines you no longer need! At the request of our dearest visual identity designer, Nina Andelin, we are collecting magazines such as Image, Suomen Kuvalehti, Suosikki, Demi, Cosmopolitan, Trendi, Suomen Luonto, and others. Give away for educational use instead of disposing of them!
You are also welcome to bring other reusable materials that could be of use to fellow artists. With your permission, we will acknowledge you as a donor on our website to show our gratitude.
We’ll also have non-alcoholic refreshments. A big thank you to CoolHead and Club-Mate for providing them.
We look forward to seeing you!
